Why would not they, after all, if they ask, tell them the same thing! Now there is a chance to see how you against others. The Australian Tax Office has published a performance benchmark for 50 types of businesses. Their goal, as you might expect, is not entirely altruistic. Their goal is to identify companies outside of the performance standards so that they can aim for tax audits. However, you can see these benchmarks, how do you do against others. Ranges for the various types of enterprises and the turnover will be the ratio of cost of goods sold, labor and pensions provided on sales. As a word of caution from the ATO includes the labor wages ratio of the owner. However, you can get an idea of the gross margins from those for other operating systems are different sizes. To use these benchmarks, select your industry, the sales area, which applies to you, and choose a medium value of relationships. For example, if you have a sanitary company turning over $ 200,000 per year, an average of 38% material and labor costs (excluding salaries of the owners) 15%.
