by Dr. Greg Chapman, MBAThe Government is currently considering a change in tax rules to make the binding of small businesses in the bureaucracy that the GST look like a picnic. It is certainly cause people to close their businesses, especially among older entrepreneurs. This change is driven by two things, the union of the hatred of the independent contractors, and the insatiable desire of the government to increase taxes. An alignment of the planets, one might say. First, the unions want an independent contractor in a unionized employee force. However, the existence of this sector is largely an arrangement of mutual convenience, especially in industries where project personnel can change dramatically in any business. It offers companies the opportunity to bring your skills as a project requires, without the additional cost of obligations by the people on the staff. The project keeps costs low. For the contractor, it gives them the flexibility to work with companies in which the work is work, and work that will not reject it, but it can take over when they employed. That independence is strong contractor employed by those who evaluated a variety of companies over the course of a year. They ask for work like any other small companies are, in quotes, take care of their own professional development and building their own reputation or brand. Yes, there is probably some of rorting agreements with some contractors really see employees, but the existing tax arrangements through this look at how many customers a contractor may have in a year. If there is only one, they are taxed as employees. How will it impact on other businesses? Differentiate Robert Liebsen God gives some examples: “Any plumber or IT consultant in Australia must between their income from capital (wrench, shovel, and computers) and) their income from labor (digging trenches and burning software. Under the Sherry (Nick Sherry was blessed Deputy Treasurer) Plan, a part of the income would be derived from work, the person who supplied the labor and the people would be treated as employees do not – are attributed to business people. The income from the capital of the owner (s) of capital that is different from the person who provided the labor to be returned. Have you ever thought of anything more stupid? But the Sherry-blessed plan gets worse. The plumber and computer person must be an annual report to the ATO to make, so that the ATO data can agree to see how many customers they have in a year. If more than 80 percent of business income came from a group then Whammo! you are an employee. And if the plumbing and IT consultants are kept, to be employees, all saw their business deductions are in a different light. Your customers may be obliged to sell, the tax if they pay the bill. And, oh yes, every company must have two employees, a business. “So, how is the work for your company? How much time and it will cost you to get a kind of liberation, when the rules do not apply to you? I predict a paper nightmare. God Liebsen predicts a 1 term Labor government. This is now part of the governments top secret Henry Tax Review. (It was completed last year, and the government refuses to say, if she releases them.) We will be sure to come when the budget or placed before the election later this year whether the government really hates about small business . If you want that this is not a political contact, the “lawyer” and minister for small businesses in the government of Dr Craig Emerson and let him know what you think of this proposal.
